Born out of the need for safe, non-toxic, truly natural skincare, Au Naturel is one-of-a-kind. We started out as 100% Natural Handmade Soap, simply sharing our family stash of gorgeous natural soap with others, but it soon grew to include many other products that we, as a family, love & use daily.

Our skin is our largest organ, so using toxin-laden personal care products can have a detrimental effect, not only on the condition of our skin, but also on our over-all health.

Organic & Vegan Ingredients

We use only organic essential oils for all our leave-on products, and use only organic essential oils as far as reasonably possible in our soaps. Most of our oils & butters are organic, unrefined and cold-pressed. To use only such expensive ingredients in soap, which washes down the drain, would push the price up too much, but we do use organic as far as reasonably possible in our soaps as well.

The vast majority of our products are vegan, simply because we do not use animal fats AT ALL. Look for the leaf 🌱 – it indicates the product is vegan. Au Naturel is PROUDLY PALM OIL FREE

Palm oil is the oil of choice in restaurants, and in at least half of all packaged products worldwide. Ice cream, margarine, lipstick… and soap.

When last did you read the ingredient list of your commercially manufactured soap? The first ingredient is probably sodium palmate, or sodium palm kernelate, the soap (salt) of palm & palm kernel oil (unless its a detergent bar). Commercial baby soaps are commonly made with palm oil, fragrance and other additives.

Palm oil is cheap and the demand for it is growing. What few people realize, is that it is one of the leading causes of deforestation. Every minute, humans destroy 36 football fields of forest, much of that for oil palm plantations.

What PACKAGING does Au Naturel use?

100% Natural, 100% Plastic-Free

It is normal for natural soap to sweat in humid weather. Because 100% natural soap contains natural glycerine, it absorbs moisture from the air. We package our soap in paper bags to prevent this. Salt bars attract even more moisture due to the high concentration of salt in them (equal parts soap and salt). We DO NOT wrap these in plastic. These bars are, rather, dipped in plain soap, so that you can still enjoy a fabulous bar, without worrying about plastic usage.

Eco-friendly, 100% Natural Range

The Soap Jar is a FIRST for South Africa. Instead of purchasing your soap in a glass jar every time, opt for the Soap Jar (a jar made entirely out of soap) which can be used in the shower. You can also get your dishwashing liquid in block form, as well as liquid shower gel in block form – another FIRST for SA!
