Oil Cleansing & Other Alternatives to Facial Soap

Sensitive, dry or mature facial skin often benefits more from oil cleansing than from natural soap.

Simply put, oil cleansing comprises of applying oil to the face, wiping it off, then applying more oil as a moisturiser. Hemp oil is a popular choice for oil cleansing, as it is non-comedogenic (does not clog pores), but there are many options to choose from.

Rosehip oil is a good facial moisturiser for oily skin, but caution has to be taken to keep it away from fabrics, as it can stain. It is also not suitable for all complexions, due to its bright orange colour.

If the idea of oil cleansing doesn’t appeal to you, here are some alternatives that work very well:

RECIPE no. 1

Mix raw honey & rooibos tea leaves. Scrub your face gently with the mixture, & rinse off. This is a great exfoliating mix for oily skin.

RECIPE no. 2

Mix oats & white rice powder with a little honey, and apply to the face. Try it with a little water in place of the honey, as a vegan alternative 🌱

If you prefer to use soap on your face, our Gentle Face Wash is the best option. Or go for the Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub. Both are very gentle and can be customised by adding activated charcoal or oils, depending on your needs. They both have 5 star reviews, so go and take a look.
